Ketim Technologies Marks One-Year Anniversary with Breakthrough in Postpartum Depression Biomarker Discovery
Brisbane, Australia – April 16, 2025 – Ketim Technologies, a leader in biomarker-based diagnostics for perinatal mental health, has marked its first anniversary with significant scientific progress and growing investor interest in its pioneering approach to early detection of postpartum depression (PPD).
Over the past year, the company has advanced from research concept to tangible translational impact, presenting its vision and data to angel investors, family offices, and venture capital firms. These pitches have reinforced both the urgent clinical need for early PPD screening and the strong market potential for a precision biomarker-based diagnostic solution.
In a recent pilot study involving 50 mothers, Ketim Technologies identified three novel biomarkers capable of predicting PPD risk with an AUC of 0.94. The study also revealed insights into treatment response for participants on antidepressants and uncovered a previously unreported drug target with a >90% predicted druggable pocket. These discoveries lay the groundwork for both diagnostic and therapeutic innovation in maternal mental health.
“As a neuroscientist, my early research at the Queensland Brain Institute focused on treatment-resistant depression and revealed links between central and peripheral inflammatory signalling,” said Dr. Clarissa Yates, CEO and Founder of Ketim Technologies. “Now, leading Ketim, I can translate these scientific foundations into solutions that could identify a mother’s risk of PPD as early as the second trimester of pregnancy — long before symptoms emerge.”
With patents underway and publication of results planned following IP protection, Ketim Technologies continues to build momentum toward its goal of delivering the world’s first clinical blood test for PPD, alongside an AI-driven predictive platform to improve outcomes for mothers and families worldwide.
